ELECTORS WHO HAVE CHANGED ADDRESSES.

To the Editor of THE BUN. Sir, —Between this date and the date of the licensing poll on April 10 a considerable number of electors will have changed their places of residence —some to other addresses in the electorate in which they now reside—others to different electorates. A great deal of confusion seems to exist ;n the public mind as to the rights of electors who may so have changed their addresses, and the general opinion seems to be that such electors will be unable to exercise their votes. Can you inform your readers if that is so, and if so, what stops, if any, can be taken to preserve their rights to vote! As the roll closes on Thursday there is very little time, which is my excuse for troubling you.—l am, etc.,

S.M. [A person whose name on election day is on a roll for a particular district and on no otlior roll should be entitled to vote. However, where a change has occurred of residence to another district or to another address in the same district, a person who does not notify the registrar of electors concerned runs a risk of Ills name being struck off before polling day. All such objections received up to March 6 must he dealt with by the registrar. After that date and up to April 9 they arc dealt with by a magistrate if there are sufficient grounds and time for determination. The latest date up to which a magistrate may order the removal of a name from a roll Is April 9. Anyone who has changed his address to another district would therefore be well advised to notify the registrar concerned of the fact before closing time for enrolment to-morrow. If he has merely changed from one street to another in the district a letter delivered to the registrar within the time stated v.ould be sufficient. But this letter must slate the former and the preserrt address. In the case of men who have enlisted they are entitled to remain on the roll of the district they left before enlistment.]
