LATE PERSONALS.
The Ellesmere Incensing Committee, sitting at Little River this morning, passed a vote of condolence to Mrs E. Gr. Hubbard in the death of her husband, who for many years was a valued member of the committee.
Mr H. Gladstone Hill, who is leaving on a business trip to Australia, and in consequence has resigned from the position of choirmaster of the Edgeware Road Methodist Church, was last evening tendered a farewell social in the choir room of the church. The Rev W. C. Oliver presided and was supported by the Mayor (Mr H. Holland) and Mr A. Williams. On behalf of the choir, Mr Williams presented Mr Hill with an inscribed silver inkstand, and with an illuminated book containing the programme of the recent children's festival, the work of Mr O. Ford. The mayor, on behalf of the executive of the Methodist Children's Festival presented Mr Hill with a travelling companion and an accompanying letter over his signature as mayor of the city and president of the festival.
At the conference of tlie New Zealand Methodist Church to-day, the Rev. (J, H. Laws, 8.A., was unanimously designated principal of the Methodist Theological College. His duties will commence in April, 1920. The appointment is for :i period of six years. The president, the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse in congratulating Mr Laws on his appointment said . that the conference had the utmost confidence in his fitness for the position. He wished him God-speed in his work. Jn reply, Mr Laws said that he deeply ■ appreciated' the honour bestowed upon him. No -more responsible work had been given him, or higher honour conferred upon him, during his ministry. "
