HOUSES IN DANGER. A grass fire started on Mr George Bowron's property, Hackthorne Road, to-day, and swept across the fiuU.v in the direction of Professor Maemillan Brown's residence. ( .The flames made such rapid progress that several dwellings appeared to he in danger. A number of workmen and residents turned out to fight the flames, and as a result of their efforts the progress of the lire was stayed. Owing to the prolonged drought, there is great risk from lire at Cashmere Hills, and a good downpour of rain would he welcomed.
