MEDICAL BOARDS' WORK.
SOME INTERESTING STATISTICS

WELLINGTON, January 19. Special statistics prepared by the medical branch of the • Defence Department show Ihe medical status of recruits examined by medical boards during the period covered by the First Division ballots. The figures cover volunteers as well as balloted men, and include some Second Division men who offered themselves for service. They show the results of first examinations, and some re-examina-tions, but do not cover subsequent rejections from camp, or changes in classification, ordered by the C2 Rc-examination Board. They present a margin of error, therefore, but they are of general interest. The total number of men examined during the period, according to the medical boards' figures, was 71,177. These men were classified as follow:
