I Owing to the restrictions placed upon telegraphic communications, the I'orbury Park Trotting Club has decided to postpone the date for taking acceptances till Monday next, November 25. Cathedral Chimes is being kept up .to the collar in view of New Year engagements. Erin's Queen is not likely to contest the Auckland Cup. Her efforts will be conlined to Canterbury events. Pitaroa is none the worse for his fall at Addington, and is being kept going for the Forbury Park gathering. In America recently, a three-year-old named Sunny Slope, by Astronomer, was sold for £SOOO. m , The office staff of the New Zealand Trotting Association is down with influenza. So far, the secretary, Mr J. B. Norris, has escaped the disease, and is in attendance during the curtailed oillce hours daily. The following horses took their departure by the Mararoa last evening:—Hymestra, Nanna, Snub, Missgold, Scornful, Rebuff, Sasanof, Ladv Ball, Taunaha, Cashmere, Lalla Rookh, "Fluency, Client, Acre, Ameythus, Oratress, Moutoa Ivanova, Mill o' Cowrie, Active, Palm Oil, Parisian Diamond, and 80-Peep. Matchlight and Sherwood continue to go on the right way at Oakhampton Lodge, and will be competitors in the big handicap races at Canterbury Park and Ash burton.

Hardy Wilkes is to be tired and turned out for a spell, after which he will be given a preparation for important races later in the season.

The Tasmania". Trotting Association has decided to issue two sorts of licenses to riders and drivers. A by-law recently passed for the issue of A and B grade licenses reads:—To hold an A grade license, all applicants have to satisfy the association that they have been placed in races where the speed has been 2.10 or better to the mile. To hold a B grade certificate, the controlling body will require to be satisfied that the applicant is competent to ride or drive in races where the advertised speed limit is faster than 2.10 to the mile. In all cases applicants must be over 17 years of age and of good character. Licenses will be issued to ride or drive in both grades as deemed expedient. These stringent courses might, with a little amending, be well applied by those issuing licenses to train, ride, and drive, in this country. Sportsmen will learn with regret of the death of D. Henderson from influenza. Among the many good horses prepared by the Southland trainer is Kilboyne, whose success at the recent C.J.C. fixture was the subject of much favourable comment. Henderson contracted the complaint during the Cup meeting, and was taken to the Christchurch Hospital. _TEMPLAR.
