PIGEON FLYING.
The Canterbury Flying Club (lew the last race on the season's programme from Ctilverden on May 4. The birds were liberated by Mr J. Sbiptcm at intervals of 10 minutes, each competitor being restricted to one bird. The winning bird, the property of Mr W. Terry, flew the distance of 56 miles 010 yds in Ihr ljhnin 33s«C. The competitors were placed in the following order—Mr W. Terry's No. 172, 1217 yds per minute, 1; Mr B. J. Finnegan's Margerine, li:My<!s, 2; Mr F. Kingsford's No. 11, lOfiOyds, 3; F. I). Wilson's No. 21, !>o.'!yds; Mr H. A. Pearson's No. 100, 051 yds; Mr 1). Dorc's No. 82, 918 yds; Mr W. Cummings's No. 401, 911 yds; Mr W. Hewitt's No. 340, 911 yds; XVoodhouse Bros.' No. 122, 840 yds; Mr G. Bilcliff's No. 70, 700 yds.
