BAND OF HOPE UNION.
*—— ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Band of Hope Union was held last evening in the Y.M.C.A building. The president, Mr W. Goodman, was in the chair, and there was a large attendance of delegates. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £42 12/1, was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr W. Goodman; vicepresidents, Miss A. G. Musgrove, Messrs W. R. lllazey, T. \Y. West, and E. A. M. Leaver; secretary, Mr P. C. Lucas; assistant secretary, Mr J. Fraser; treasurer, Mr F. T. iioyce; executive, Mrs J. \Y. Hull. Messrs F. Cole, F. Bilcliff, and C. 11. Bascand; auditors, Messrs E. A. M. Leaver and \V. M. licrrili. It was decided to hold the annual musical and elocutionary contests in October. Committees were set up to make arrangements. The conveners of committees are as follow: —Stage, Mr F. Cole; Mrs M. Gunnell; hall, Messrs F. A. M. Leaver and Gunnell; prize fund, Mr \V. Goodman. Messrs H. Gladstone Hill, R. Malcolm, M. J. A. Hough, A. M. Owen, and .Mrs W. H. Ford have consented to act as judges for the competitions. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring, ollicers. ...ii.iiil.ua
