According to advices received last week in Sydney from San Francisco, the launch of the Faith, the first concrete ship built in America, was a most pronounced success. Prior to the launch in San Francisco Bay, come part of the material supporting the vessel gave way, with the result that the „ ship was dropped fully six feet on to a hard surface. Those who witnessed the accident expected to sec the vessel hopelessly damaged, hut on a close inspection it was found that there was not the slightest flaw in the hull. Later the Faith was successfully launched. A wireless message was received in Melbourne last Monday week by the American Consul-General from San Francisco, stating that the Faith had a trial trip round the bay. It was an unqualified success.
