According to advices received last week In Sydney from San Francisco, the launch of the Faith, the first concrete ship built in America, was a most pronounced success. Prior to the launch in San Francisco Bay, come part of the material supporting the vessel gave way, with the result that the ship was dropped fully six feet on to a-hard surface. Those who witnessed the accident expected to see the vessel hopelessly damaged, but on a close inspection it was found that there was not the slightest Haw in the hull. Later the Faith was successfully launched. A wireless message was received in Melbourne last Monday week by the American Consul-General from San Francisco, stating that the Faith had a trial trip round the bay. It was an unqualified success.
