ANZAC DAY.
THE CELEBRATION.
Special services in the churches and military parades will form the main features of the outside celebration of Anzac Day. Proceedings will ho generally of a quiet description, and in keeping with the spirit of the day. A fair proportion of business premises will close during the afternoon. The spectacular event of the day will be a parade of returned men, Territorials, Senior Cadets, and South African veterans in the afternoon. The parade of troops will be commanded by Lieuten-ant-Colonel G. .1. Beattie, N.Z.F.A. Cadet companies, with the exception of Companies 11, 08, 6!), and 75, will parade under Major Conway, without arms, at 1 p.m. on the lawn, Cambridge Terrace, between Montreal Street and the Antigua boat sheds. Cadets must be in uniform. Returned officers and men are asked to parade at the association's rooms, Gloucester Street, at 1.30 p.m. sharp, in uniform. The various units will converge on the barracks, following which the parade will inarch to the Christchurch Cathedral.
Here the returned soldiers in charge of the soldiers' wreath will enter by the west door at 2 p.m., and carry it to the chancel, where it will be received by the Cathedral clergy and offered to the glory of God in memory of those who gave their lives to their country. The wreath will then be hung outside the west door of the Cathedral. The proceedings will only occupy a few minutjs. The public will be admitted by the uorth and south doors, but there will be no admission after 2 o'clock.
Proceedings will not take more than five minutes, following whvjh tho troops will inarch to the North Park. Here the troops will bo reviewed by the Officer Commanding the District, Colonel R. A. Chaffey, V.D. A flag there will be lowered to half-mast, and returned buglers will sound the "Last Post." Incapacitated soldiers will ha conveyed to the park in motor cars. CHURCH SERVICES. The celebrations in the churches will bo spread over the major portion of.the day. At the Christchurch Cathedral, Holy Communion will be conducted at 7.15 a.m., followed by communion, matins, and special commemoration at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Bishop Julius wiil bo the preacher at a memorial service at St. Luke's, Bishop Julius will preach at 9.15 a.m., whilut Holy Communion wilt be celebrated at G. 30. To-day a special service of intercession will be held at 7.;!0 p.m., when the offerings will be devoted to soldiers' comforts at the camps.
Mass will be celebrated at tho Roman Catholic Cathedral at 9 a.m. for the repose of the souls of those who fell on Gallipoli, and for the welfare of those now serving in the Army or Navy. The schools of the parish wilt participate, and the whole will be conducted by his Lordship Bishop Brodie. A united service has been arranged by the Ministers' Association for St. Paul's Church at 7.45 p.m. to-morrow. At the Trinity Congregational Church a continuous combined intercession service
has been arranged from 2 p.m. till 5 p.m. Tho Methodist, Presbyterian,: Congregational, Baptist, and Salvation , Army denominations, and the Y.M.C.A., ■ will each take a definite part. At the Christchurch Boys' High: School, a service will be held at 3 p.m. j in memory of old boys who have fallen I ill the war. All old boys possible are i requested to attend.
