RETENTION OF SAMOA.
ATTITUDE OF LABOUR. The National Executive of the United Federation of Labour has sent out a manifesto to Labour unions expressing the opinion that the resolutions passed by public bodies in favour of the retention of Samoa will be one of the, stumbling-blocks to peace negotiations. The circular goes on to declare that "we (the Federation) do not believe Samoa to be worth one New Zealander 's life; that we therefore urge our reprrsentatives- to England to offer to surrender all claims to Samoa and leave the question in the hands of the Peace Conference to decide; that our representatives be instructed to do all in their power to help on peace negotiations; and that we have carefully read «the statements of Mr Lloyd George, President Wilson, Ihe Pope, and the leading statesmen of our enemy countries, and as there seems so little difference between them, we urge that every earnest man and woman should do all in their power to bring about peace."
