At the present time a portion of the Lincoln Road, between the city and Riccartou, does not belong to any local body, but so detaches Riccarton from the city of Christchurch that a poll cannot be taken in the suburban borough on the question of- amalgamation with the city. On the motion of Cr A. S. Taylor, the Christchurch City Council on Monday evening decided,, subject to the approval of the Riccarton Borough Council, to ask the Government to gazette the particular portion of roadway as a part of the city, so as to make the two districts contiguous.
