SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

THE ANNUAL ELECTIONS. The following members of school committees were elected at the annual meetings held on Monday evening:— FENDALTON. The annual meeting of householders of the Fcndalton School district was presided over by Mr Gilbert Burns. The attendance was very meagre. The report disclosed that very satisfactory results had been achieved for the year' by the teaching staff. Of the sixteen candidates in Standard VI. submitted lor examination, 12 obtained proficiency and two competency certificates. The balance-sheet showed a deficit on the year's working of £ll 13/5, it being found impossible under the existing conditions to confine the expenditure within the limits of the very inadequate incidental allowance. Keeling reference was made to the loss suffered by the school in December last through the death of Mr John Thornton, who had rendered excellent service, both as member and chairman of the committee continuously for the past 20 years. Votes of thanks were accorded the headmaster and teachers for the excellent results achieved during the year, and to the Rev. Canon Hamilton for giving religious instruction to the scholars. The resolution of the School Committees Association re Government grant of £1,(100,000 for educational purposes was unanimously endorsed. The following were elected the committee:—Messrs G. E. The following motion was passed :—"That this meeting of householders request the Waimalri County Council to convene a general meeting for the purpose of considering the drainage question, and that the Revs. W. H. Orbell and D. D. Bodger, and Messrs Smith, King, Hawke, and G. T. Jones wait upon the council to place before it the householders' views upon the subject." Recommendations were made to the incoming committee to assist in having all school hooks throughout the Dominion standardised, and that the Bligh's Road School be extended to the full standards. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr John Pye on the death of his wife.
