Mrs M. Anderson, of Asliburton, has received a letter from 2nd-Liout. W. E. King, of the sth Machine-gun Corps, giving particulars of tlio death of her brother, Private W. Grantham. The letter stated that a shell came through the roof of the place where he was sleeping and killed him instantly. lie was buried by his comrades, who were going to erect a cross over the grave. The officer expressed on behalf of the section their sorrow at tho loss of a good comrade and soldier. Private Grantham was born at Lyttelton and educated at the Marist Brothers' School, Christehurch.
