MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

TO-DAY'S CASES.

Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court this morning. Drunkenness. —Joseph O 'Connor, a third offender for drunkenness, was fined 20/-, in default seven days. One first offender was fined 5/-. Joseph Mulqueens, a second offender, was fined 10/-, in default 48 hours, and a prohibition order was issued against him. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. In the case of William Morris (Mr Thomas) v. Joseph Edwards (Mr Grcsson), the amount owing was £22 16/7. No order was made.

After the examination of the debtor, the Magistrate refused to make an order in the ease of 11. anil S. Hawker (Mr Williams) v. Frank Peters, debt £4 5/-. E. 11. Burridge was ordered to pay £4 10/6 to D. L. Boyd (Mr Sargeant) forthwith, in default five days' imprisonment. An order for immediate payment, in default two months' imprisonment, was made in the ease of T. Cromton and Sons (Mr Cuningham) v. J. A. Burnip, debt £7O 16/-. ' , S. East was ordered to pay Costello anil Berryman (Mr Thomas) the sum of £lO 8/6 forthwith, in default 10 days' imprisonment. In default of immediate payment, John O'Kecfe was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment in respect of a debt of £l4 8/3, owing to H. 0. Haleroft (Mr Williams). Mary liiddleston (Mr Cassidy) proceeded against J. Stewart, horse dealer, in respect of a debt of £79 17/-, Mr Cassidy stating that the case was based on fraud in that defendant had sold to plaintiff a mare alleged by him to have been got by Wiklwood Junior, the champion stallion, whereas it turned out to bo a most ordinary and useless animal, and in no way of the Wiklwood Junior stork. The debtor was ordered to pay £1 a week, in default three months' imprisonment.
