There is interesting news from Italy to-day. In the first place, the Italian Navy has achieved a notable success by sending a light flotilla to Trieste, Austria's chief port, where the battleship Wien was sunk and another torpedoed. There has been hard fighting on the Asiago Plateau, lying to the north of the Verona-Vicenza line, in which battalions of the Alpini and Bersaglieri covered themselves with glory by dying to a man in order to allow their comrades to retire to strong defensive lines on the flank of the Piave front.
