THE TENTH BALLOT.

FILLING TWO REINFORCEMENT DRAFTS 1617 CANTERBURY MEN CALLED UP. The drawing of the 10th Ballot for filling the shortages in the drafts for the 34th and 35th Reinforcements was concluded last week and the list was published in a “Gazette” Extraordinary issued this morning. This was the largest drawing since the institution of the ballots, a double drawing being necessitated, as last month the Statisticians’ Department being busy with the re-registration of the Second Division, no ballot was taken. Altogether over 15.0(H) names were required to be drawn as the proportion necessary to secure the quota is now 41 to 1. In the whole of the Canterbury and West Coast districts 2417 names were drawn, the numbers being as follow; Christchurch District .. .. .. 835 North Canterbury .. .. .. 269 South Canterbury 513 West Coast 800 The following are the name's of those drawn in the respective districts:—
