SUMNER-REDCLIFFS.
a An excellent entertainment was given in the Town J fall, Sunnier, last evening, by the Christehurch Society Entertainers in aid of the funds for the Plunket Babies' Hospital. There was a large attendance, ami the whole of the programme was thoroughly enjoyed. Songs were contributed by Misses Duncan and Messrs Montague Gihnour, Bracy Wilseu, I?. Malcolm, Tarlett and Simpson; banjo solo by Mr Louis W. Bloy, concertina selections by Mr Colin Campbell, musical monologue by Mr Bartlett, a ventriloquist act by Mr Charles I'arsons, and an admirable display of conjuring by Messrs Nicholson, Adair and Parsons. During an interval Mr (j. \V. C. Smithson, on behalf of the
committee, thanked the performers, and announced that the proceeds from the evening’s concert would bring the total collected in Sumner and Redcliflfs for the Hospital Fund up to £l5O. A special meeting of the members of rlic Simmer Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last evening, Superintendent d. Carter, presiding. The report presented in connection with the recent social showed that the profits had amounted to £l2. It was decided to donate 25 per cent, to the Sumner Red Cross Committee, 25 per cent, to the Redclifl's Red Cross Committee, and to (dace the balance to the credit of the club’s funds. Votes of thanks wore passed to the ladies of the above committee who had supplied refreshments. H was resolved to co operate with the Simmer Liverpool Committee in arranging a dance in aid of the Soldiers’ Christmas Present Fund, and the superintendent and secretary were appointed |a sub committee to interview the Liverpool Committee at the next meeting. 1 Arrangements were made (o play a billiards match against (lie Simmer Bowling Club next week.
