BOMBS DROPPED ON FLEET AND WAR OFFICE r ' The Russian offensive has forced the enemy to retire from Halicz, and that important position is now in the hands of the Russians. British aeroplane aviators bombed the Turco-German Fleet at Constantinople, and secured hits upon the Goeben. A heavy local assault by the Germans in the Nieuport sector achieved temporary advantages, which were remedied by a prompt British counter-attack. A surprising incident recorded by American sailors shows that the Germans are now placing a price upon the heads of steamship captains. America is reported to be building 300 submarine chasers each of a length of 110 feet. The minimum height for recruits in America has been placed at sft lin, thus making available for service many thousands of additional men.
