NEW ZEALAND CASUALTIES. GUNNER A. A. McCAUSLAND. Gunner Alfred Alexander McCausland, who has died of wounds, was the voungest son of the lale Mr Charles McCausland and Mrs McCausland, of Kimberley, where he was born 24 years ago. lie was educated at the local school, and was the first man in the Kimberley
district to enlist for active service, and is also the first to make the supreme sacrifice. He left as a trooper with the sth Reinforcement, and saw six weeks' active service on Gallipoli, being in the last batch to evacuate if. After arriving back in Egypt he transferred to the Artillery, and left with that body for France. Gunner McCausland was previously wounded in the battle of the Somnie. He was an active member of the Kimberley Cricket and Football Clubs, and was regarded as one of the best sportsmen in the district. Mrs McCausland has two other sons on active service. PRIVATE 11. ROBERTS. Private H. Roberts, died of wounds, was the third son of Mrs R. L. Roberts, of 85 Kingsley Street, Sydenham. He saw a great deal of service, being one of the original Main Body men. He was first
wounded a few days after the landing on Gallipoli. On recovering, he rejoined his unit, and proceeded with it to France, where he had been fighting up till recently, when he received wounds which, later, proved fatal. Two of his brothers have also been wounded, one in Egypt, the other in France. Another brother left with the 27th Reinforcement.
