NEW BRIGHTON.
On Monday evening a meeting of the New Brighton Fire Brigade Committee was held, Superintendent W. Sherwood presiding. It was derided to send monthly parcels to Brighton members at the front. The annual enrhre and dance will be held on August 22, all surplus money to be donated to the Rod Cross funds. The sum of .€5 7/2 was received from the Joyland Picture benefit to the brigade. The Men’s Red Cross Committee will meet to night at the Council Chambers. On Monday night the Cadets fired their first competition, when O'Donnell won the first prize with 60-10 — 70, after three shots with Hopkins, 63-7 —70. Private L. Harding is in the lead for the Cadet Championship. On Tuesday the Ladies’ RHie Class fired a return match on the home range, when the Crown ladies’ team won by six points. Winnv (6.6), after tieing with Miss Sherwood won the gold ride brooch, and M - Lewis (56) won the silver brooch. After the match the Brighton ladies entertained the visitors to a sunper at the Maori Tea Rooms.
