Brown, son of Mr Brown, of Lyndon No. 2 Settlement, Waiau, who was reported wounded a. fortnight ago, is now reported killed in action on June 7. Previous to enlisting Private Brown was managing his father's farm, and was very popular throughout the Waiau. He was a member of the committee of the Anuiri A. and P. Association, and an enthusiastic hockey and football player. Advice iias been received stating that Private Clar.de 0. Mathias, who was reported wounded in the thigh and scalp, has he.-n removed from the dangerously ill list. Private Mathias left with the 19th Reinforcement, being previously employed by the Kaiapoi Woollen Company. Mr Patrick Filzgibbon, of North Loburn, ha:-' received word that his son, Private M. J. Fitzgibbon, of the 1-ftli Reinforcement, has been wounded in the lighting around Mcssines. Corporal H. W. Duckmanton, killed in action, was tlic eldest sop, of JTr and Mrs T. Duckmanton, Hasting Street, yValtham. He was LM years of age, and was educated at Sydenham and West Christchureh Schools. He had been in France since April, 1910, having enlisted with the Bth Reinforcement, and had been twice wounded. Before enlisting he was engaged in farming in the Oxford and Dunsandel districts. Corporal Duckmanton had recently passed his examination as a grenade, instructor. A younger brother, who went away with the sth Reinforcement, has returned home. Private Henare Korako (killed) was the only son of Tutehounuku Koraka, of Tuahiwi. His sisters, Tipu and Ema Korako, reside at Tuahiwi. His cousins, Whar Pohio, Oco, and S. Kuku, of Port Levy, are still on active service. He was educated at the local school. He is the third member of the great Te Bangiamoa tribe to be killed in the present war.
