BABY WEEK.

Yesterday the Cathedral Square table yielded £37 12/5, and the Cashel Street table £3B 0/5, in support of the Baby Hospital. The thirty-ninth £25 also came in during the day, which, with the £25 promised by Mr and Mrs Bloxam, completed the fourth thousand raised iu large donations.

To-morrow the great effort of the society towards the completion of the amount required will be made by means of a street collection. The first half of the amount has been subscribed by the few; now it is left to the many to make "a long pull, a strong pull, and a pull all together," and complete it. The first half was comparatively easy—it always is—but, in the words of Mr G. L. Donaldsou, the organiser, "the stiff - est hurdle is still before us." The Plunket Siciety is going to take that hurdle; it has its. mind made up to that, but it will need every bit of help that can be given.' Let everyone, then, make such an effort as never has been made before! Let gold, and notes, and cheques go into the collecting boxes tomorrow, instead of the miserable little bits of silver, specially reserved for such purposes! Of course, those little bits of silver will be needed, too; they will do admirablv to fill in the chinks

between the larger amounts, and there are those who can honestly give no more. But, as for those who can, let them do so. There never was a proposition fraught with greater p.qsaihiliirrig" for good placed before the people of the province. Bet them see to it that then' response is in keeping. Mr W. Sarelius lias presented a model yacht, which is on view in Hallenstein Bros.'s window, the Triangle. It will be sold by auction in Cathedral Square at 5 p.m. to-morrow, in aid of the fund.
