ALLEGED FORGERY.

CHARGE AGAINST STATIONMASTER. Press Association. TIMARU, June 26. ' At the Magistrate's Court to-day. F. Patterson, for some years stationmastcr| at Albury, an I who was transferred to Coalgate hist November, was charged; with forging the name of Clarke, an Albury hotelkceper, to a receipt of an, account for £:.' 13/-, hotel expenses, and with attempting to obtain that amount from the, depajtmeut, by falsely pretending that he had incurred such expenses by staying at the hotel in connection with his removal. Clarke denied that Patterson slaved at the hotel. At his request witness gave Him a statement of what, such would have cost, but did not. sign it as a receipt. Cross-ex-amination suggested that the expenses were properly incurred, and that Clarke did sign the receipt. Accused was committed for trial. P>fiil was allowed.
