Withell, headmaster of the Mayfleld School, lias received cablegrams stating that bis son, Second-Lieutenant E. C. D. Withell, was wounded by a gunshot wound ill the left arm (slight), on June 7 and was admitted to the New Zealand Hospital, Brockenhurst, on June 9. He left New Zealand with C. Company, 7th Reinforcement, and gained his commission at the Officers' Military Training School, Lichfield, England. Private cable advice has been received by the New Zealand Refrigerating Company that Captain Stuart Ramsay, D.5.0., is officially reported missing, and that the colonel of his regiment has further reported that he fears he has been killed. Captain Bamsay left Cliristchurch shortly after war broke out, and obtained a commission in the Imperial Army. His work in the trenches speedily brought him not only promotion hut special recognition, as he was granted the D.S.O. last year, and had the honour of be:ns! personally decorated by the King at Buckingham Palace. Subsequent to his transfer from the London office of the company, Captain Ramsay was in the head office of the company, Christchurch, for a period of about two years. During that comparatively short period he made many friends n the city, and should the fears as to his 'ate prove justified, bis. loss will be deeply regretted by all who knew him. Captain Ramsay had a winning personality, which won him many friends, and his Outstanding ability had already marked him as certain to rise to prominence in the business career which he bad chosen. News lias been received in Metliven that Colin Crawford had been seriously wounded in France. General regret will lie felt lor Crawford who left with one of the early droits and saw service at Gallipoli. He was greatly respected in the district. On Monday word was received in Leeslon of the death in action of Lance-Corporal 1,1. Rapley, who left with the 19th Reinforcement. Lance-Corporal Rapley was a son of Mrs Rapley, late of Lakeside, anil was brought up and educated at Lakeside. News was received by Mr G. A. Baxter, of Te Perlta, formerly of Soutbbridge, lh.it his brother, Private Oliver Baxter, was killjed in Prance on .'one 7. He was born and I educated at Southbridgc, and was the second son of the late Mr and Mrs Geo. Baxter. | Advice has been received that Rifleman I George Hendry Campbell, son of Mr David Campbell, Alford Forest Boad, has died of wounds. Rifleman Campbell left with the II Ith Reinforcement'. : Mr John Templeton, Cox Street, Allenton, has received advice that hjp son. Private George Lancelot Templeton, who left with the 151b Reinforcement, has been admitted to Brockenhurst Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds in the band. Mrs J. li. Mayson, Hampstead, has been notified by the Base Records that her son. Rifleman M. G. Mayson, has been invalided home, and is expected to shortly arrive in New Zealand.
