EFFICIENCY BOARD.
BANKS PENINSULA COMMITTEE. A. meeting of the Banks Peninsula Advisory Committee, acting for the Efficiency Board, was held in the Council Chambers, Duvauchelle, on Saturday morning. There were present: Messrs .!. R. Thacker, chairman (Okain's), Geo.-Armstrong, J. D. Bruce, Coo. Check ley (Akaroa), P. Williams (Robinson's Bay), E. Hay (Pigeon Bav), Arthur Waghorn (Little Akatoa). Mr C. B. Thaekcr, as a member of the Board of Trustees, was also in attendance. An apology was received from Mr Wm. Dalglish (Le Bon's). It was decided to call the attention of the board to the case of-two young farmers engaged in dairying. One had been called up, and the other was expecting his summons at any time. It was decided, likewise, 1o ask the Board of Trustees to lake what action in the matter it deemed wisest.
Oil the question of the killing of immature cattle for freezing, it being staled that there were over 3000 carcases of veal in the freezing works near Chiistclnirch, it was derided that strong representations should be made at once to the Efficiency Board, urging it:, in the national interests, to take immediate action. Considerable discussion took place with regard to the labour problem as it affected the L'euinsula dairying industry, and representations will be made to the Efficiency Board on this point.
