SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
ST. ALBANS. The St. Albans School Committee met last night, there being present: Messrs Andrews (chairman), Bowen, Col'?, Green, Hobbs, Macfarlane, Tyndall, and Faulkner. The Education Board wrote, stating that, owing to reduced attendance at the school, Mrs Calvert had been transferred to another school, and that Miss Lawrence hail been granted three months' leave of absence. It. was decided to write to the Education Board with reference to the dilatoriness shown in- building the new school and erecting the fence promised some months ago. The headmasters' report showed an attendance of GOl out of a roll number of 628. The chairman and secretary were appointed to arrange a meeting of householders to be held some time previous to the annual .meeting, for the purpose of stimulating interest in school committee elections. Messrs Tyndall and Faulkner were appointed a Visiting Committee for the month. The chairman was requested to write to Mrs Purse, thanking her ror her many kindnesses in supplying material to the school children in aid of their Red Cross work.
UPPER RICCARTON.
The Upper Riccarton School Committee met on Monday night. The headmaster's report showed the average attendance to be 2.13 out of a roll number of 254. It was decided to ask the Health Department for information regarding a report that hail reached the committee of an outbreak of sickness in a neighbouring district. The Visiting Committee's report was tatisfactorv.
