COURT MARTIAL.

TWO DESERTERS TRIED. Press Association. WELLINGTON, March 10. Samuel Edward Fitzgerald and Herbert Hill were before a Courtmartial with being deserters from the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Fitzgerald was heard first. At the time he was apprehended lie had signed on as a steward on the steamer "Manuka-" Detective-Sergeant Kawle stated that accused said he had no desire to evade responsibilities, had he done he so could have deserted at Sydney. It was further mentioned that he had attempted to sign on a vessel bound for Frisco, but had been unable to do so on account of being unable to get his clearance from the "Manuka." In accordance with custom, the decision of Court was not announced. The case against Hill is being taken this afternoon.
