BOWLING.

NOTES FROM THE GREENS. OPAWA GREEN. During the week the Handicap Doubles and Handicap Singles were advanced a stage, and should be completed next week. Taylor and .lames beat, Pcnbevthy and Hillary, leaving the former with one game yet to play. In the Handicap Singles, the contest between Best and Talbot, produced a most exciting finish. Both players were 15 all on the last head. In the final head, Best was lying to advantage, and Talbot, sought to trail the, kitty. In this he succeeded, but did not trail far enough, the victory going to Best. Best has now to meet one of the Bruce brothers, who play off for winner of their section. Sydenham Green. There has been nothing doing at Sydenham green during the, past week, in the way of advancing the competitions. The handicap doubles, the colts', and handicap singles, are a long way from completion. A meeting of the Club Committee was held last night and it. was resolved to close down on the Tuesday after Easter. United Green. United, like Sydenham, appears to have made little progress during the week. The competition nearest decision is the champion singles. Three of the sections have been won, as follows: — Section A, Tosswill; Section B, Suttie; Section C, McCullough. In Section D, Brown, jun-, or Brackonridge will win. Christcrnirch Green. The most important game played on Christen urch green during the. week was the final in the champion singles, between Scrivener and Orchard. The former won a closely contested game by one point. This completes all the important competitions. All that remains to be disposed of are a few minor competitions such as afternoon badges, etc. Linwuod Club. In the Champion Singles, Healey beat Brunt in the final of Section B, and Killner 'beat Dickson in the final of Section C. Edgeware Club. Centre Rink Badges.

The centre rink badges liavc passed into the possession of a Linwood rink skipped by H. Killner. The difficulty which arose over the tie with Gagliardi's Kdgcware rink was eventually overcome by playing seven extra heads, which resulted in a win for Linwood by (5 to 4. The succeeding game was played against, another Edgeware rink, the challengers on this occasion being an Edgeware rink consisting of Bunt, Baseand, Beanland, and Brass. The Linwood rink consisted of Healey, Price, Marriott, and Killner. The game again resulted in favour of Linwood. The holders started off with a good lead, but Edgeware got to work and were only two down with the last head to go. When the skips went down to play, Edgeware were lying the shot, and Brass, with his first bowl, ifc-ew a second. Killner rested on this shot, leaving Edgeware one, and that, position remained unchanged, Linwood winning by 21 to 20. St. Albans. The big event of the week was the final of the Champion Singles. The honour this year was secured by M. Angus, an ex-Invcreargill player, formerly of the Teßangi green, which is one of the adornments of the Water Tower Boservo. Angus is a very steady and consistent player, with a faculty for gauging width and length to a nicety, lie beat P. Davidson in the final, Davidson having previously beaten Wilson, the ex-Bangiora crack.
