MADDISON TROPHY COMPETITION A record entry of seventeen has been received for the Maddison trophy competition, which represents the Singles Championship of the Christchurch Centre. This will necessitate five rounds, which is rather much for one day's play. In the first round there are fifteen byes, the only game being between the Canterbury and Sydenham representatives, who will meet on the Christchurch green tomorrow afternoon at 2.30, while the remainder of the competition will be got oil' oil Saturday, March 17. The following is the draw for the second round: — Canterbury or Sydenham plays Christchurch. St. Albans plays Lyttelton. Ashhurton plays Papanui. Sumner plays Dunsandcl. Opawa plays Linwood. United plays New Brighton. Kaiapoi plays Sunnyside. Kdgewarc plays ltangiora. MATCH AT ASHBURTON. A match between the Christchurch Centre and the Ashhurton Club will be played at Ashhurton tomorrow, players leaving by the mid-day train. The following will represent the Centre:-!). Sinclair, A.
