TERRITORIAL CAMP.
WORK CONTINUED
There was very little rain out at Plumpton to-day to binder the operations of the Territorial camp there. The men are taking a keen interest in their work, and very satisfactory progress is being made. The following is to-day's programme:—Extended order drill; scout and picket duties, musketry, aiming and instruction; squad drill; musketry, care of arms, and names of parts. This evening there will be a lecture upon "Sanitation and Discipline." These lectures are a regular part of the course of training, and are delivered every evening. The men are quite satisfied with their conditions, and it is safe to say that the camp will be highly successful. This morning a number of staff officers, including Colonel Chafifey and Major Finnis, paid a visit of inspection. Yesterday afternoon a church service was conducted by the Rev. Cox, after which the camp was opened to visitors when a large number of relatives and friends of the men took advantage of the opportunity to see the camp. General leave was then granted all the men from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday, the programme of instruction will culminate with the firing of a musketry course on the Cashmere Rifle Raii"e. On Saturday, the camp will be struck, and the men will return to town.
