The Caledonian Pipe Band was or Saturday afternoon entertained by the president of the society (Mr (), ,S Thomas) at his residence, Pajmnui Fourteen pipers were present nndei Pipe-Major Craig, Highland dancing songs, and music, provided a pleasant programme, and the function was heartilv enjoyed by all present.
PERCY COLEMAN, holder of World's Record 15 MILES in 13min. 50see. secured second place in Australasian Championship with one cylinder misfiring. JIM DAWBER secured the Eight-Mile Handicap, lapping at 57 2-ssec, a WORLD'S RECORD for grass track. Dawber also secured second place in South Island Middle-Weight Championship. ERNEST HINDS, on his 7 h.p. Indian, beat all-comers in Open Handicap, flying over EIGHT MILES IN RECORD TIME OF 6MIN 52 1-SSEO. MISS HINDS, on her 2\ h.p.
