HEARING OF APPEALS.
LIKELIHOOD OF DELAY. It appears lhat there will be some delay in the hearing of the appeals against their convictions Tor sedition which have been laid by Robert Semple, Frederick Cooke, and others, who are now serving sentences of one year's imprisonment. Mr (1. Hutchison, of Wellington* who is acting as counsel to the appellants has written as follows to Mr J. McCoi >hs, M.P.:— "I had practically arranged for a Full Court of three judges to sit this week . . . but the SolicitorGeneral wants not less than iive judges to constitute the court, so that there is no probability of that until the judges assemble here (Wellington) for the Court of Appeal on March 2(>. The Solicitor-General attaches importance to the constituj tionai question, and wishes to have the most authoritative decision on '.1.0 subject."
