SUFFOLK BOMBARDMENT.
SHARP FIRING. SLIGHT DAMAGE DONE. Australian and N.X. Cable Association. LONDON, January 2(i. A raider appeared off the east coast at eleven o'clock at night and commenced tiring slarshells. A sharp bombardment for three minutes followed, but no one was injured and no panic occurred. The damage done was slight. A GERMAN ACCOUNT. ATTAC KING G UARDSHIPS. ,1. and X.Z. Cable Association and Renter. LONDON, January 27. A German official message announcing the Suffolk raid says:—Our light forces penetrated the English coasl wafers al South Lowestoft in order to attack hostile guardships, but, despite a search, could not find the enemy, whereupon our torpedo boats fired al Ihc fortified place of Southwold. Full hits were observed and the flotilla relumed safely without observing the enemy.
