AUSTRIAN DEFENCES AGAINST ITALIANS.
HINDENBURG ADVOCATES ADDITIONAL WORKS COUNCIL OF WAR AT THE FRONT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 29, 9.15 a.m.) ROME, January 28. The Emperor Karl, the Archduke Eugene, Marshal von Hindenburg, and General von Ludendorff recently visited the Austro-Jtalian front. They held a council of war, at which von Hindenburg considered that the Austrian defences were inadequate, and urged the immediate construction of additional works.
