Hayes Fisher (Under-Secretary of the Local Government Board) at Ealing, said:—"The Victory War Loan must be raised by the combined efforts of millions of citizens. The war cannot he finished in 1917 unless wyjuy prepared for still greater privations. "The cost of the Avar to Germany is about the same as to England. We shall emerge impoverished, naturally, but Germany will he bankrupt. "British money would be forthcoming if we only thought of the thousands of splendid lives already given, of the 5000 men in this country to-day who have lost an arm or a leg, of the 2200 men in France who have lost their eyesight, and of the millions who are ready to give their all in freedom's cause.''
