The State wheat office continues to receive reports of attempts to burn and otherwise damage wheat stacks throughout the country. The State Government is calling for tenders for the erection of a bulkhandling wheat system, with a terminal elevator of 3,000,000 bushels capacity, in Sydney; one of 80,000 bushels in Newcastle; and country elevators of a total capacity of 12,000,000 bushels. The estimated cost of installation is £2,000,000. FOR RETURNED SOLDIERS. (Received January 6, 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, January G. The Premiers' Conference has resumed. It discussed the repatriation scheme for soldiers, and decided to draft a composite scheme of land settlement. DEARTH OF RECRUITS. (Received January 6, 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, January G. The Director of Recruiting is considering the raising of the age limit to 50. He will possibly adopt a district j territorial system.
