COOL STORAGE.

It is reported by tbe Government fruit experts that the supply of locally grown fruit practically ceases each season by July, after which the chief supplies come from Canada and the United States, and are dutiable. With a view to overcoming this disadvantage, cool stores are being erected at Papanui by Messrs Baker Bros., in which there will be accommodation for many thousands of cases. Tins will enable Canterbury gro.vers to market the products of their orchards to better advantage, by spreading their supplies over a longer period, instead of having to load the market at unprofitable prices through being unable to rej lard maturity. .3
