A STUBBORN BATTLE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, December 14. A Russian communique says:—The enemy on December 13 continued his attacks in the direction of Buzeu. Our cavalry and infantry came into contact with the enemy west and south-west of Buzeu, and fought a stubborn battle. The communique does not mention the result, and presumably the battle still continues. MACKENSEN'S PROGRESS. CLEARING WALLACHIA. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, December 14. A German official message says:— General von Mackensen is making progress on the whole front, despite the greatest difficulties in his road. All of Great Wallachia south of the railway line from Bucharest to Cernavoda has been cleared of the enemy. Russian attacks in the W r ooded Carpathians were repulsed.
