The enemy is still advancing steadily on the Rumanian capital, although the stubborn defence of the Russians and Rumanians has considerably decreased the speed of his progress. It is reported to-day that the forts have come under the fire of the German guns. The circle of forts surrounding the capital lies on the railway line shown on the map. The Rumanians are retiring in the PitesciTargoviste region, north of the capital, but they are offering an obstinate resistance to the south-west, in the direction of Alexandria.
