KNOCKED DOWN BY A MOTOE CAE. "While riding a bicycle along Garden Road, shortly after 8 o'clock on Saturday evening, a man named Edward Geo. Phillips, shipping clerk, aged 44, residing at tJ2 Garden Road, Fendalton, met with a serfcma accident. Garden lioad is intersected by Wairarapa Terrace, which curves at the point of intersection, and the corner is an extremely dangerous one. The collision took place between Phillips, who was on his bicycle, and Dr \V. 11. Simpson, who was driving a closed in motor car. Phillips was knocked down and possibly run over, and he sustained very serious injuries to his head, face, and body, and was rendered unconscious, lie was at once taken to the Hospital by Dr Simpsou. This morning he was reported to be in a semi-conscious condition. BODY FOUND IN WAIMAKARIEI. Past evening the body of a man was found in the Waimakariri, about live miles north of Papanui. It was brought to the Christchurch Morgue, but there was nothing to reveal the identity of the man. The deceased was sft "llin in heighfcpof fairly stout build, and was wearing a grey suit. The body has since been identified as that of Walter Lucadou Stewart, aged .'!2, formerly residing at 141 Leinster Road. He had been missing from home since the 17th iust.
