A fishing party had an unenviable exjperience yesterday, when their launch, the Roamer, broke down off Adderley 1 Head. A big sea was running, but the vessel had entered close in shore and was in com] aratively calm water wlun the aecu ent occurred. Assistance was asked of a passing launch, bat the parties could not agree to terms for the tow, so one went back to Lyttelton in the second boat, and secured the services of the tug. The occupants of the Roamer, numbering nine in all, were eventually towed back without further mishap, after being at anchor about eight hours. A broken fly-wheel was the cause of the delay. The Tramways Comedy Troupe gave a concert at Methven on Saturday evening for the local Red Cross Branch. Leaving the Square at 1.15 p.m., the party was conveyed by four motor cars, one of which was lent by Hawke's Garage, one by Mr F. Bailey, one by Mr G. McGinnis, and one was hired by the Red Cross Branch at Methven from Mr F. Matike. The first stop was at Rakaia,- where half an hour was spent for afternoon tea. On arriving at Methven, the Red Cross Branch met the party in very wet weather. The concert was given in the evening to a full house. It is not yet known what the takings were, but it is considered well over £2O was received. The troupe returned to Christchurch on Sunday afternoon, three cars coming through the Rakaia Gorge and one through Rakaia, arriving in town at 5 p.m. SECOND-HAND MOTOR CYCLES.
