THE PLUNKET SOCIETY.

A mooting of the committee of the Royal Now Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children was held on November -'■'< in the office in Chancery Lane. Present: Mrs Morton (in the. chair) and Mesdames L. Clark, Bloxatn, Stevenson, Smith, Bristed, and Misses Maud and Rose Tabart. Apologies were received from Mesdames Boyle, Holland, Reid, Deans, Chilton, Godby, Reeves, Sandston, Hallensteiu, and Free. Tlie committee decided, on account of the large number of mothers seeking advice, to keep the rooms open in the mornings from 9 to 12, the afternoon hours to be, as usual, from 2 to 4. This would afford the nurses more time to give each baby greater individual attention, the rooms being so crowded at present that it was impossible sometimes to attend to all thoroughly. It was hoped that mothers who could manage to get out in the mornings would come in the forenoon, and so leave the afternoons for mothers who were more tied. The alteration would come in about the middle of December. The president reported that Nurse Hansard had just returned from her month's holiday, and that Nurse Maokie was now away on leave. During her absence Nurse Cunnington was attending to the country work. The secretary' reported that 1000 copies of the book "Care and Feeding of Baby*' had arrived from Maemillan's. and were in eager demand. During November two cases of baby garments had been shipped to England, and it was hoped they would arrive in time to be distributed at Christmas. Mrs 11. Reeves and Mrs Free, who are temporarily leaving Christehureh, tendered their resignations. It, was decided to ask them to accept leave of absence. Mrs Morton reported she had given addresses re I'lunket aims at Kaiapoi, Chertsey, Rakaia, Hororata, Sumner, and Riccarton. The committee expressed its appreciation of her work. It was decided to write to all subscribers who had not paid their subscriptions by the end of November, asking them to continue their support to the society, a support which was now more urgently needed than ever. Subscriptions could be sent to Mrs A. IT. I Bristed, Avonside, or to the office in | Chancer}' Lane.
