NEW TEA HOUSE.
AT DYER'S PASS. This afternoon, in the presence of a I small gathering, the foundation stone I for the new tea house at Dyer's Pass | was laid by Mr W. H. Skinner, chairman of tlie Summit Roads and Reserves Board. The weather -was very unpropitious, soaking rain falling all the time, and it was therefore resolved to eliminate speeches and anything in the nature of a set ceremony. The foundation stone bore the following inscription:—"\V. 11. Skinner, Chairman Summit Roads and Reserves Board, Hurst Seager and McLeod, architects, ('. Calvert, builder, 25th November, 1910."' The tea house, which will lie completed in two months, is to be made of stone from the Cashmere quarry. The foundation block is of (ilentuunel stone, a lid the window sills and coigns will he of red stone from Kennedy's Bush. It will contain, in addition to the tearoom, living rooms for caretaker, and a feature will lie the wide verandah, tin entrain e being from Dyer's Pass Road. The eastern end of the building looks out on Ripa Island, while, towering in the distance, the peak known as Rhodes Monument, and the Peninsula ranges may be seen. The attractions of hill walking will undoubtedly be enhanced by the erection of this building. A track lias been started which will go round the adjacent Sugar Loaf, and join up with the Summit Road later on. Tea was provided by the caretaker of Kennedy 's Bush, and his wife.
