At the Rukaia Magistrate's Co-art yesterday, before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.. judgment by default was given in the civil ease It. A. Shannon v. G. McLean for the full amount elaime I £6 8/11, and S/- o.<:-. James McCoy, who did not appear, was line! It'/- an.l 7'- costs for a breach of a prohibition order. Cornelius O'Sullivan was charged, on tho information of Xonnan Burgess, with rescuing three sheep from tho pound on October .'sl. Plaintiff stated that defendant lifted the sheep over tho rails and defied the keeper. Defendant stated tho poumlkec;er had been driving a mob of sheep a I ■■■ .■■• the road, and his had strayed tkro.V his fence, and ho thought they were illegally impounded. He pleaded guilty, and was fined 5/-, with Court costs 9/-, witnesses expenses 6/-, and 10/fees.
