SCOTT MEMORIAL.

COMMENCING THE ERECTION. It is expected that a start will be made with the erection of the stone work of the Gaptain Scott memorial statue opposite the City Council Chambers on Monday next. The work is being carried out by Mr A. Dudley Dobson, City Engineer. None of the tenders received for the work were strictly in order, fnd so the City Council decided to go on with the work itself. The foundation has been laid for some time, and a commencement will be made to rig the gear necessary to placing the stone in position on Monday. Mr Dobson will push forward the work with all speed, and will endeavour to get it finished by Christmas. If this cannot be done, he hopes to have it completed by the New Year.
