CANTERBURY BAND OF HOPE UNION.
The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Band of Hope Union was held at the Y.M.C.A. on Thursday evening, Mr C. H. Bascand presiding in the absence of the president. There was a good attendance. Votes of condolence were passed on the deaths of Mr Potter, the Rev. F. W. Isitt, Mrs D. C. Cameron, and Private W. Isitt, and it was decided to send letters of sympathy to the relatives. The report of the special committee with regard to the contest was considered. Many of the recommendations were adopted, and the remainder were held over till the next meeting in February. The secretary reported that since the contest a juvenile concert party had visited Cust, Tinwald, Ashburton, and Southbridge, and given concerts in aid of the Red Cross Funds, about £GO being raised after paying expenses, besides £l2 15/- for the Belgium Children's Fund by means of an appeal at each concert. A programme also had been supplied to (he Kaiapoi Band of Hope, and an adult programme arranged for Rangiora in aid of the Belgium Relief Fund.
