ANTI-SHOUTING.
AFFAIRS IN WELLINGTON. I THE REGULATION DISREGARDED j [Special to The Sun.] WELLINGTON, November 17. The judgment of the Supreme i Court quashing two convictions re- ! corded in the Wellington Magistrate's I Court recently in connection with J the anti-shouting regulation does not bear directly upon the efficacy I of the regulation, but it draws attenlion to the present position. There is no doubt that at the present time j breaches of the regulation in this i city are very frequent; indeed, shout- j ing proceeds in all city bars, some- '' times openly, sometimes by means of j various little subterfuges that have been evolved by ingenious patrons, i Bar attendants, speaking generally, ! continue to pay some attention to the j regulation, but many customers pay j very little attention to it, and it does not appear that the efforts of the police to secure convictions by the use of plain-clothes constables and j informers have done much to im- i prove mailers.
