I The Hank of England discount rate was raised from 2 per cent, to t per cent, oil July 30, 1914, to 8 per cent, on July 31, and to 10 per cent, on August 1; was on August fi lowered to (i per cent, and on August 8, 1914, to 5 per cent., at which it remained until July 13, 1916, when it was raised to G per cent. MONEY MARKET. Short loans are quoted at ."> per cent., unchanged since last week. At this date last year the quotation was 4jj per cent. Three months hdls are quoted at 5J per cent., unchanged since last week. At i this date last year the quotation was 5J j per cent. CONSOLS. Merrett and Co. report an excellent entry of poultry to-day, but the supply was too inadequate for the demand, with the result that prices are again high. Table chickens from 9/- to 13/9, and ducklings from 8/- to 12/0 are in keen demand. Hens are coming forward more i freelv, still the prices hold good from .1/3 to 9/0, pullets realised 5/0 to 13/8, geese H/- to 11/0, turkey hens it/- to Hi/0, turkey gobblers 10/- to 30/- all per pair.
