The "Berliner Tageblatt," in commenting on the Ancre battle, admits that the British shrewdly economised their men, and showed that they were using them to the best advantage now. The "Berliner Tageblatt,'" commenting upon the British advance on ihe Ancre, says that it followed upon a bombardment of 12 days' duration, with continually increasing intensity. The guns were fed with as much ammunition as they wanted. The paper admits that the attacks in the southern sector were stronger than the defence, and says: "The English are fresh and strong." The "Frankfurter Zeitung" says that the English gained merely a tactical success, which was unavoid-i able in such a long defensive battle. ! The "Kolnische Zeitung" states that the English employed with their whole fury, heaped up piles of materials and projectiles of the heaviest' calibre. With such a tremendous ex- j penditure of ammunition an off en-: sive could always be carried out after the levelling of the trenches. A SERIOUS WARNING. BRITAIN'S GROWING STRENGTH..
